Join guest speakers Richard Johnson, Head of Procurement at VisitBritain and Roger Carter of TEAM Tourism Consultancy for a session focused on the challenges of bidding for contracts in the UK and overseas.

Richard has worked in public sector procurement for over 20 years. Prior to moving to VisitBritain he worked as a procurement consultant for 10 years, helping a range of organisations with their procurement needs. He has also worked on a consultancy basis helping SME organisations respond to bids/tenders, gaining a good understanding from both perspectives of the key challenges for requesting or responding to tenders. Richard will explain the procurement governance and regulations that VisitBritain and VisitEngland follow and offer hints and tips on submitting responses to quotations and tenders.

Roger Carter has many years of experience of bidding and securing overseas contracts and will share his observations on the procurement landscape and recent trends. See Roger Carter’s profile.

Roger will provide an overview of opportunities for both individuals and small consultancies. Factors to be considered include:

• Types of clients

• Types of contract

• Types of projects

• Credentials/experience required

• Methods of recruitment/procurement

We would like cover as many of your questions during the 75 minutes as possible. If you are an experienced bidder, or new to this, we welcome your questions. Once you have made a booking, we will invite you to send advance questions to the panel. Time will also be allowed for questions posted by the audience during the session.

This session will be of interest to both freelancers (including project managers, photographers, copywriters, web designers etc) as well as larger teams looking to hone their bid-writing skills.
