Membership Criteria

The  Tourism Society is open to everyone working in the tourism and travel industry, connected to it in any way, or actively interested in travel and tourism. Our aim is for the Society to be as inclusive as possible and for its members to represent the widest range of interests and experience within tourism.

Tourism Society Membership Fees

Annual membership fees (in GBP) are listed in the table below. Please note the Tourism Society is not registered for VAT and there is no VAT element in the fees shown.

Tourism Consultants Network (TCN)

There is a supplementary subscription of £35.00 per annum. Please contact the Secretariat on 0203 696 8330 or email membership@tourismsociety.org for more information.

When you need help

The Society recognises that business difficulties or even redundancy can arise during your career. At such times, The Tourism Society will assist as far as possible, particularly with networking and advice. Subscription payments due during these times can be discussed by contacting the Secretariat on 0203 696 8330 or email membership@tourismsociety.org.

Application for Fellow status

Fellows of the Tourism Society (FTS) are recognised as leaders and senior professionals in their field. The Society organises exclusive Fellows' Days, and Fellows propose possible new Board members.

Criteria

Have previously joined as a Full Member of the Society and have held that status for not less than two years, and hold, or have held, a senior position of responsibility in the tourism industry, and/or can demonstrate a record of significant contributions in one or more sectors of tourism and leisure

Process

Please send your CV and request for upgrade by email or post to membership@tourismsociety.org. Your request will be reviewed by the Tourism Society Executive Committee and you will be informed of the result as soon as a decision has been taken. You will then be sent a certificate to mark your upgrade and asked for the monies owed for the difference in membership subscription fees from MTS to FTS.
