Bio Alison is a consultant specialising in tourism development and rural regeneration. She has over 30 years experience in tourism working in a range of rural areas around the UK. Alison has worked with clients ranging from national governments to local community groups and from large commercial attractions and national parks to small tourism enterprises. Alison’s expertise includes • tourism development, policy and management • sustainable and slow tourism • rural and market town regeneration • leisure and outdoor recreation management • partnership approaches and community engagement • small tourism business development • local heritage interpretation and sense of place Alison has recently completed a PhD at Cardiff University where she researched contestations around intensive poultry farming developments, including their impacts on rural tourism. Previously a lecturer at the University of Birmingham and practitioner in rural regeneration and tourism.
