Bio Blue Skies Consultancy Group was founded in 2006 to provide tourism development programmes consisting of knowledge transfer, vocational education in tourism and process management to be able to develop businesses for export opportunities into key and new markets and sectors. All programmes are focused and tailored towards the local SME operators where a direct impact with communities by way of wealth creation, social enterprise and employment increase has been the result, instead of larger regional / international companies making the profits and having a limited “impact investments to the communities”. Programmes vary from two weeks to four years deepening on the investment and penetration a host desire, with the longer two to three year in depth programmes having the far greater impact to the businesses and the communities. In addition we have coached / advised, regional and national tourism authorities on the implementation of their strategies for tourism development where required. In both aspects (public and private sector) we provide the up to date trends of the international buyers, with tailored focus as trends develop or evolve. This work has been carried out in over 30 countries around the world with over 1000 companies involved, varying from specific focused workshops through to longer term “coaching” programmes of both selected private sectors companies as well as public stakeholders. Project funding has been via donor agencies where the recipient countries have been identified by the IMF as Least Developed or Fragile States. In other cases funding has been provided by ministries within the host country and / or localised donor contributions and private sector companies or associations. The majority of this work has been carried out in Africa, Asia and Latin America. More in depth, commercially focused projects have also been carried out in The Caribbean and many other “developed” tourism countries in regions of the world. Most work in the Middle East has been under NDA conditions for Sovereign Wealth funds. The consultants that are the core team inside of Blue Skies Consultancy Group are multi national and have over 180 years of tourism experience with cross sector experience and higher management responsibilities. Many have both private and public sector experience with the national tourism boards of various countries relating to engagement and strategy. Academia also benefits, where we can provide insights and added value to universities that have a higher education course in tourism, by talking about real life issues and challenges that we have experienced first hand and also from working with individuals, companies and government agencies globally.
