Bio I was one of the Founder Members of the Tourism Society in 1977. My career began in local government working in British resorts. I then spent nine years at the English Tourist Board before moving into the commercial world holding senior positions in global international hotel companies, travel and tour operators. In 2015 I was invited by Visit Kent to set up the new DMO - Visit Herts. I became Deputy CEO for the GoToPlaces group which I helped to establish, working in Kent and Hertfordshire developing new projects including DMPs, “The Big Weekend,” research and consultancy activities. I uniquely served two terms as Chairman of The Tourism Society and co-founded and co-chaired British Tourism Week before setting up VisitEngland’s English Tourism Week and chairing the steering group for ten years. In October 2020 I took voluntary redundancy from Visit Kent and established Tourism Reimagined as a platform to support business recovery. I am a regular contributor to publications and an industry speaker. I was delighted to be awarded an MBE for services to tourism in the 2020 Queen’s Birthday Honours. In 2021 I was invited to join the small Challenge Group working on the DCMS Review of DMOs. I have subsequently been a non-executive board member of Visit Isle of Man where I helped the Chairman with the restructuring of the DMO and am currently Chair of Visit Isle of Wight.
