Bio Ken Robinson CBE FTS Ken Robinson is a "tourism enthusiast", an independent tourism adviser and writer who specialises in tourism policy and strategy, and in visitor attractions. His motivation is to be a pragmatic pioneer of new initiatives, strategies and solutions to optimise the economic, cultural and social benefits of tourism, for both rapidly evolving and developed destinations. Increasingly, this requires the management of tourism demands, which is not easily realised in an industry geared to marketing. Ken has been an adviser to Government departments and other public bodies, to Local Authorities, Trusts and many commercial sector tourism businesses. With his background in the management of commercial, charitable and public sector visitor attractions, Ken led consultancies advising on tourism strategies, optimising destinations, and the development of visitor attractions worldwide. Ken is a former Chair of the UK Tourism Alliance in UK and of Tourism South East, and a former Chair and Board Member of the Tourism Society and Chair of its Think Tank. He has been an adviser to the UN’s International Trade Centre, on national and destination Tourism strategy development, and is a member of the World Travel Market Advisory Council. Ken chaired the national Visitor Attractions Forum in England, and started the annual National Conference for Visitor Attractions. He is a Board member and Trustee of several other Tourism bodies. Ken was awarded the CBE for services to Tourism in 1997, and an Honorary Doctorate in 2014.
