Top Twelve Tourism Trends for 2021

Wave wiping 2020 and revealing 2021

Tom Buncle has dusted off the Yellow Railroad
crystal ball to identify twelve of the most potent
influences that he thinks are going to shape the
resurgence of travel in 2021 – one for every
month of the year, as follows:

1. Vaccination will release pent-up demand
2. Vaccination will be patchy
3. Short-haul international will boom
4. Long-haul will take longer to recover
5. SLOMO, FOMO, YOLO and BLISTO will be the first out of the traps
6. Staycations will sustain their popularity
7. Prices will rise
8. Rural will outpace urban growth
9. Booking lead times will increase
10. Use of travel agents will grow
11. Technology will be vital
12. Flexibility will be important

Tom concludes with a New Year’s Resolution for 2021: ‘Radical Refocus Required’. How true.
